Heath Gumm - Sheriff's Deputy Fatality - Colorado

Deputy Heath Gumm, age 32, died in the line of duty on January 24, 2018, at a hospital in Denver, Colorado.

Deputy Gumm was a member of the Adams County Sheriff's Office, which is based in Brighton, Colorado. He had almost 5 years of service.

Just before 7:00 p.m., Heath and other deputies had responded to a call of an assault in progress in Thornton. A foot pursuit of a male subject ensued. The male being pursued opened fire on the deputies, mortally wounding Heath in the chest.

Heath was rushed to a hospital in Denver where, tragically, he was pronounced deceased.

The male shooter was later apprehended. As of this posting a manhunt was on for two other males involved in the incident.

Family and friends describe Heath as funny, approachable, friendly, fair and kind in spirit. 

The members of the Adams County Sheriff's Office are in mourning over the death of their brother.
Heath was a valued asset to the Sheriff's Office team. He will be forever remembered.

Heath's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was loving and was loved in return. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Heath is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and family.

Thank you for your service to the community, Heath.

God save us from the psychopaths. They are killing us, Father. Amen.
