Jeff Blackmer - Firefighter Fatality - Indiana

Jeff Blackmer
Firefighter Jeff Blackmer, age 42, died in the line of duty on December 20, 2017, at a fire station in Muncie, Indiana.

Firefighter Blackmer was a volunteer member of the Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Company based in Muncie.  He had over one year of service.

In the early morning hours, Jeff had been working a barn fire with his comrades and then returned to the Fire Station. He was cleaning and stowing away gear and was the only one in the fire house.

It is believed that Jeff then suffered a massive heart attack. Tragically, he passed away.

Jeff had been a firefighter in Wisconsin. He returned to Delaware County a couple of years ago and volunteered with the Hamilton Fire Company. He volunteered almost 2,200 hours this year. He was a mentor to young firefighters in the Fire Company.

Jeff's fiancée, Emily, stated that Jeff loved being a firefighter. He also worked for a local photography company. Jeff was a man with a heart of gold who would do anything for others. He was not materialistic. He was kind in spirit. He will always be loved.

Jeff is the father of two young children in Wisconsin and was also helping Emily raise her four children.

Florian, Patron Saint of
Firefighters, pray for Jeff
and for those who have
lost him.
The members of the Hamilton Township Volunteer Fire Company are in mourning over the death of their brother. Jeff was one of the good guys. He will be forever remembered.

Jeff's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was loving and he was loved in return. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Jeff is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his fiancée, Emily and his two children in Wisconsin.

Thank you for your service to the community, Jeff.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Jeff is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
