David Thomas Brabander - U.S. Military Fatality - Afghanistan

Staff Sgt. David Thomas Brabander, age 24, of Anchorage, Alaska, died in the line of duty on December 11, 2017, in Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan.

Staff Sgt. Brabander was assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 509th Infantry Regiment, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division, U.S. Army Alaska, Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska.

David was serving in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel which is the U.S. military action against terrorism in Afghanistan.

Tragically, David died of injuries sustained from a motor vehicle accident. The accident was not combat-related. The cause of the accident is under investigation.

David enlisted in the Army in March of 2012 and had been stationed in Alaska since November of 2014. Prior to that, he was stationed in Hawaii.

David had been deployed to Afghanistan in September of 2017. He was an airborne infantryman and squad leader.

a young age. He loved the outdoors and hunting, hiking and four-wheeling.

David's military comrades are in mourning over the death of their young brother. He will be forever remembered.

David's loved ones are devastated by his sudden and tragic death. He was helpful, caring and kind in spirit. He was greatly loved. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

David is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members who will forever miss him.

Oceans of tears have been shed for David.

Thank you for your service to America, David.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that David is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.

Pray, without ceasing, unto God, for an end to all War. It is enough.
