John Davidson - Police Officer Fatality - Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada

Constable John Davidson died in the line of duty on November 6, 2017, in Abbotsford, British Columbia, Canada.

Constable Davidson was a member of the Abbotsford Police Department. He worked in the Patrol, Youth Squad and Traffic Sections.

He had 11 years of service with the Department and 24 years of service in law enforcement. He had previously worked as a police officer in Britain.

A call was received that a vehicle that was possibly stolen was located outside of a shopping centre in the city. The caller had blocked the suspected stolen vehicle in. The male who was driving the suspected stolen vehicle began shooting at the caller and at others with a shotgun.

John and other Abbotsford Police officers arrived on scene and shots were exchanged. John was shot. 

He was rushed to a local hospital where, tragically, he succumbed to his injuries. 

The shooter, a man in his 60's from Alberta, was arrested. 

The members of the Abbotsford Police Department are in mourning over the death of their brother. John was a dedicated officer who worked hard to curtail impaired driving. He spent a lot of effort connecting to the community and to helping kids. John died as a hero in the service of his community. He will be forever remembered.

John's loved ones are devastated by his sudden and tragic death. He was loved. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

John is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife and his three adult children.

God save us from the psychopaths. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Pray that John is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
