Roshain Brooks and Allen Stigler Jr. - U.S. Military Fatalities - Iraq

A terrible tragedy occurred in northern Iraq on August 13, 2017.

Two American soldiers died in the line of duty. An Army artillery unit was firing on an ISIS-controlled mortar position when a mishap occurred. Tragically, both men were mortally wounded.

Spc. Allen Stigler Jr. (L); Sgt. Roshain Brooks (R)
The incident is under investigation. ISIS did not play a role in the deaths of these men.

Both men were assigned as cannon crew members to the 2nd Battalion, 319th Airborne Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 82nd Airborne Division, Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Both men were serving in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, which is the U.S. Military operation against ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

Tragically deceased are:

Angels of God, pray for Roshain and for
Allen and for those who have lost them.
Sgt. Roshain Brooks, age 30, of Brooklyn, New York. Roshain enlisted in June of 2012 and was deployed to Afghanistan in 2014. This was his first deployment to Iraq. He was born in Jamaica and immigrated to the U.S. as a teenager. He was level-headed, friendly and respectful of the feelings of others.

Spc. Allen Stigler Jr., age 22, of Arlington, Texas. Allen graduated from Timberview High School in 2013 and joined the Army soon thereafter. He wanted to follow in the footsteps of his grandfather and great grandfather who also served in the military. Allen was a man of faith who loved his family.

Military comrades at Fort Bragg are in mourning over the deaths of their brothers. Roshain and Allen died as heroes in the service of their country. They will be forever remembered.

The loved ones of Roshain and Allen are devastated over their sudden and tragic deaths. They were loved. They did their best. They will be forever mourned.

Oceans of tears have been shed for these men.

Thank you for your service to America, Roshain and Allen.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Pray for all who die in a foreign country, far from their loved ones.

Pray for all who die by misadventure. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

Pray that Roshain is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.

Pray that Allen is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.

Pray without ceasing unto God for an end to all war. It is enough.
