Miosotis Familia - Police Officer Fatality - New York City

Police Officer Miosotis Familia, age 48, died in the line of duty on July 5, 2017, at a hospital in New York City.

Officer Familia was a member of the New York City Police Department. She was assigned to the 46th Precinct. She had 12 years of service. 

Shortly after midnight on July 5th, Miosotis was sitting in a marked mobile command post vehicle at a street intersection in the Bronx. She was filling out a Police memo document. 

A male, Alexander Bonds, age 34, approached her and shot her through the vehicle window. She was struck in the head. 

Miosotis was rushed to a local hospital where, tragically, she succumbed to her injuries. 

Alexander Bonds is an ex-convict with a prior record of assaulting a police officer. He was confronted by responding police officers who shot and killed him in an exchange of gunfire. 

Miosotis was the mother of three children. She had worked as a nurse and as a medical assistant for the Red Cross before joining the Police Department. She was a well-known and well-liked presence in the neighborhood.

The members of the New York City Police Department are in mourning over the death of their sister. Miosotis died in the service of her city. She did the right thing. She was a well-respected officer. She will be forever remembered.

The loved ones of Miosotis are devastated over her sudden and tragic death. She was friendly and helpful to others. She was loved. She did her best. She will be forever mourned.

Miosotis is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including her three children.

Thank you for your service to New York, Miosotis. 

God save us from the psychopaths. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Pray that Miosotis is in Heaven. Pray that she is at peace and is with God. Amen.
