Joel Davis - New York State Trooper Fatality

Joel Davis
Trooper Joel Davis, age 36, died in the line of duty on July 9, 2017, in Theresa, New York State.

Trooper Davis was a member of the New York State Police. He was stationed in Philadelphia, New York. He had 4 years of service. He had previously served with the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.

Theresa is a village of under 900 population and is located 330 miles northwest of New York City. It is near the Canadian border.

At about 8 p.m., Joel was responding to a domestic disturbance call that shots were being fired at a home in a rural section of Theresa.

The circumstances of the tragedy are unclear, but a male subject murdered his wife, wounded another woman who lived on the property and then as Trooper Davis approached the property he too was shot and killed.

The shooter, Justin Walters, age 32, of Theresa, N.Y., is an active duty Army member with 10 years of service. He surrendered to the authorities and has been charged with two counts of murder.

Hindsight is 20-20 and it is easy to come up with advice after the fact. However, if you
Michael, Patron Saint of the Police, pray for Joel and
for those who have lost him.
are a male who is experiencing a relationship breakdown and feel that you are losing control because of it:

~Talk about it. Speak to a friend or a family member or someone you trust.
~On the Internet, look up "crisis line" for your city, state or province and telephone them. They will have counsellors on the line who can talk to you about your situation.
~Go to the local hospital's emergency room and say that you are losing it and that you need help. You may need strong prescription drugs to calm you down. You may need immediate psychological counselling.
~Do anything you can to prevent yourself from murdering the person you once loved.

It will be better for you and for the world if you seek immediate help.
