Hansen Kirkpatrick - U.S. Military Fatality - Afghanistan

Pfc. Hansen B. Kirkpatrick, age 19, of Wasilla, Alaska, died in the line of duty on July 3, 2017, in Helmand Province, Afghanistan.

Pfc. Kirkpatrick was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 36th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division, at Fort Bliss, Texas. He was a mortarman.

Hansen had been with the 1st Battalion for just over a year.

Hansen died of wounds sustained during an indirect fire attack. It has been reported, but not confirmed, that Hansen was inside of a building which was struck by a Taliban mortar round. The entire incident is under investigation.

Hansen was serving in support of Operation Freedom's Sentinel which is the U.S. military action against terrorism in Afghanistan.

Hansen's military comrades are in mourning over the death of their young brother. Hansen was a caring, disciplined, and intelligent young soldier. He will be forever

Hansen's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He was a good kid who was just starting out in life. He was greatly loved. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Oceans of tears have been shed for Hansen.

Hansen is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members who will forever miss him.

Thank you for your service to America, Hansen.

Pray for all who die in the line of duty.

Pray for all who die in a foreign land, far from their loved ones.

Pray for all who die young. They barely had a chance to live.

Pray that Hansen is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.

Pray, without ceasing, unto God for an end to all War. It is enough.
