Miguel Moreno - Police Officer Fatality - San Antonio, Texas

Police Officer Miguel Moreno, age 32, died in the line of duty on June 30, 2017, at a hospital in San Antonio, Texas.

Officer Moreno was a member of the San Antonio Police Department. He had 9 years of service.

At about 3:00 p.m., Miguel and his partner, Julio Cavazos, were on patrol north of downtown when they noticed two men near a car that looked as if it had been broken into. The officers approached the two suspects, when one of them opened fire striking Miguel in the head and his partner in the torso.

Miguel's partner was able to return fire. The suspect shooter was fatally wounded and died shortly thereafter.

Miguel was rushed to a local hospital where, tragically, the following day he succumbed to his injuries.

Miguel's partner, Julio Cavazos, age 36, underwent surgery and is expected to survive his wounds.

The second male suspect was taken into custody.

The members of the San Antonio Police Department are in mourning over the death of their brother. Miguel died in the service of his community. He was one of the good guys. He will be forever remembered.

Miguel's loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Miguel is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members who will forever miss him.

Thank you for your service to the community, Miguel.

God save us from the psychopaths. They are killing us, Father. Amen.

Pray that Miguel is in Heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
