Dennis Rodeman - Firefighter deliberately struck by a vehicle in Lansing, Michigan

Firefighter Dennis Rodeman, age 35, died on September 9, 2015, at a hospital in Lansing, Michigan.

Firefighter Dennis Rodeman (L); Grant Taylor (R)
Firefighter Rodeman was a member of the Lansing Fire Department. He had 7 years of service.

During the afternoon, Dennis was collecting money during an on-street fundraising program for the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the International Association of Fire Fighters when he was deliberately struck by the driver of a pickup truck.

Dennis was rushed to a nearby hospital where tragically he succumbed to his injuries.

It is reported that Dennis and the pickup truck driver had exchanged words after which the pickup truck driver circled back and ran into Dennis.

The pickup truck driver, Grant Taylor, age 22, of Lansing, fled the scene but was apprehended by the police. He may face charges of murder and hit and run.

Dennis was a U.S. Marine veteran who had served a tour of duty in Iraq. He had married his wife, Katherine, only two months ago. She is pregnant with their child.

A fundraising site has been set up to help Dennis' family with expenses.
Florian, Patron Saint of
Firefighters, pray for Dennis
and for those who have lost him.

Grant Taylor is innocent unless proven guilty. However to all who act violently on impulse, we offer this quote by British author James M. Barrie (1860-1937) who said:

"Temper is a weapon that we hold by the blade."

The Lansing Fire Department is in mourning over the death of their brother. Dennis was highly regarded by his comrades and had an unblemished employment record. He always had a joke or a wise crack on hand and could make his buddies laugh. He will be forever remembered.

Friends stated that Dennis served his country with great pride, bravery and ability.

Dennis' loved ones are devastated over his sudden and tragic death. He did his best. He will be forever mourned.

Dennis is survived by many loving comrades, friends and family members including his wife, Katherine.

Thank you for your service to your country and to the community, Dennis.

Pray for all who die suddenly. They are with us one moment and are gone before we can say goodbye.

God save us from the Lost Ones who bring death to strangers. Amen.

Pray that Dennis is in heaven. Pray that he is at peace and is with God. Amen.
